چکیده

Abstract As a conserved epigenetic mark, DNA cytosine methylation, at the 5’ position (5-mC), plays important roles in multiple biological processes, including plant immunity. However, involvement of methylation determinants virulence phytopathogenic fungi remains elusive. In this study, we profiled patterns fungus Verticillium dahliae , one major causal pathogens wilt disease that causes great losses many crops, and explored its contribution fungal pathogenicity. We reveal modification is present V. required for full host plants. The enzymes responsible establishment were identified. provided evidence methyltransferase-mediated pattern positively regulates virulence, mainly through repressing protein kinase VdRim15-mediated Ca 2+ signaling ROS production, which essential penetration activity . addition, further demonstrated histone H3 lysine 9 trimethylation (H3K9me3), another heterochromatin marker closely associated with 5-mC eukaryotes, also participates regulation pathogenicity, similar mechanism. More importantly, methyltransferase genes VdRid VdDnmt5, as well H3K9me3 genes, greatly induced during early infection phase, implying dynamic homeostasis an efficient infection. Collectively, our findings uncover mechanism virulence.

Epigenetic regulation of hematopoiesis by DNA methylation.

During embryonic development, cell type-specific transcription factors promote cell identities, while epigenetic modifications are thought to contribute to maintain these cell fates. Our understanding of how genetic and epigenetic modes of regulation work together to establish and maintain cellular identity is still limited, however. Here, we show that DNA methyltransferase 3bb.1 (dnmt3bb.1) is...

Induction of Systemic Resistance by Trichoderma harzianum Isolates in Pistachio Plants in-Fected with Verticillium dahliae

Twenty isolates of Trichoderma harzianum wereisolated from the rhizosphere of healthy pistachio plants from different localities of Kerman Province, Iran.Five isolates with high antagonistic activity in in vitro assays against Verticillium dahliae (the causal agent of pistachio wilt), were investigated for their effect on the defense enzymes, peroxidase (PO), phenyl alanine-ammonia lyase (PAL) ...

DNA methylation and epigenetic inheritance in plants and filamentous fungi.

Plants and filamentous fungi share with mammals enzymes responsible for DNA methylation. In these organisms, DNA methylation is associated with gene silencing and transposon control. However, plants and fungi differ from mammals in the genomic distribution, sequence specificity, and heritability of methylation. We consider the role that transposons play in establishing methylation patterns and ...

Vegetative compatibility groups partition variation in the virulence of Verticillium dahliae on strawberry

Verticillium dahliae infection of strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa) is a major cause of disease-induced wilting in soil-grown strawberries across the world. To understand what components of the pathogen are affecting disease expression, the presence of the known effector VdAve1 was screened in a sample of Verticillium dahliae isolates. Isolates from strawberry were found to contain VdAve1 and we...
